Liverpool are preparing to offload Darwin Núñez, with Saudi clubs circling and replacements already being lined up.
Darwin Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool this summer after two mixed seasons at Anfield. Napoli have withdrawn their interest in the striker, leaving Saudi Pro League clubs as the leading contenders for his signature. Liverpool are open to selling the Uruguay international for £50–60 million, and are already moving aggressively to secure a new No.9.
With Núñez’s departure increasingly likely, Liverpool have made contact with Newcastle United over a potential move for Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker is Liverpool’s top target, but Newcastle have placed a £150 million valuation on him and currently consider him “not for sale.” The Reds are reportedly prepared to go as high as £120–130 million, which would represent a club-record deal.
If a move for Isak fails to materialize, Liverpool are expected to turn their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike. The French forward is viewed as a long-term project with high upside, and Frankfurt are said to want at least £86 million after rejecting an initial £70 million approach.
Núñez scored 18 goals in all competitions last season but struggled with consistency and decision-making in the final third.
Arne Slot is believed to favour a more composed, technical striker who fits his high-pressing and possession-based philosophy.
Liverpool’s forward line could see further changes, with Luis Díaz also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia and Spain.
Liverpool are expected to finalize Núñez’s exit before the end of the month, with Saudi clubs preparing formal offers. At the same time, the Reds are pushing hard to secure a top-tier replacement. Isak remains the priority, but a breakthrough with Newcastle will likely require player involvement. If not, Ekitike is viewed as a viable alternative to lead Liverpool’s next-generation attack.
